Two Serious Concerns
2004 - Sumatra Earthquake
1. Collapse of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Canary Island of La Palma could create an Atlantic-wide tsunami

2. Collapse of the Kilauea volcano could cause a Pacific-wide tsunami
Geologists and volcanologists in Hawai'i are concerned about a fissure that has opened up on the south side of Kilauea. This crack is spreading at a rate of 2.8 cm/year - very slow! - but may indicate that the whole south side is unstable and may fail. Flank collapses have happened in the past. And when this one fails it will create a Pacific-wide tsunami.
